We don’t need a law to tell us what to do when the Spirit lives in us. The Spirit gives people the kind of character that God wants, which is much more than what the law requires (cf. Gal. 5:22-23). The Law can teach us what God wants and show us what is wrong, but it can’t make us less sinful or give us the power to live in God’s will. On the other hand, the Holy Spirit can clean, change, empower, and inspire us in ways that the law can’t (Romans 8:1-4; 2 Corinthians 3:17-18). Let’s thank God for giving us his Spirit, which is a loving and powerful part of him.

Prayer
God, give me a pure heart and make me new by letting your Spirit live inside me. In Jesus’ precious name I pray. Amen.
