Few things are more beautiful than knowing that Jesus thought to pray for us on the night he was betrayed! We typically read and examine the words of John 17 as a prayer for his apostles in the upper room. However, if we examine attentively at this verse, we can see that Jesus prays for us, those who believe in him as a result of the apostles’ witness. He wishes for us to be one! He desires that we live with the same unity, purpose, and character as God. If we don’t, how will the rest of the world know that God sent his Son? How will they know which stories to believe? How will people come to know Jesus as their Savior?

Prayer
Father, forgive us and transform us and let us realize what is most essential in our lives as your followers. Break down the boundaries that divide us into different religious groups and help us find unity around the things, and the One, that matter most. In Jesus’ precious name I pray. Amen.
