There are no random acts of kindness. There are only acts of kindness that are planned and given the chance to happen. We have talked about nice things we could do. We have made a promise to act in ways that are kind and helpful. We have asked God for a chance to be kind. Then an opportunity comes up, and voila! We do nice things. There’s nothing odd about that! This is true not only in what we do, but also in what we say. We are told to do more than just avoid bad speech. We are told to use our words to bless others and help them find Christ.

Prayer
Father, if you could pardon me for my careless words this week. I realize that speaking carelessly is sinful twice; the first time was when I did it, and the second time was when I missed the chance to speak in a way that was redeeming and beneficial. Lord, please open my eyes so I can see the people you have placed in my path for me to bless. In Jesus’s precious name I pray. Amen.
