Christianity isn’t for people who are weak or afraid. Words like “made himself a nobody,” “servant,” “humbled himself,” “became obedient,” and “died on a cross” are used to describe our example. That’s not easy. So that’s the example we’ll use. Jesus’ story may start with a sweet child, but it also starts with him being put where animals ate. Even though it may be powerful and important, it is not fake and sweet. It’s about how people are different because they know their Redeemer and what that cost was.

Almighty God, loving Father, thank you for putting the story of the Gospel in the world I live in. Jesus, thank you for saving me by coming into my world and facing its hardest parts. Help me learn to be selfless, obedient, and humble so that others can find your grace through me. In Jesus’ precious name I pray. Amen.
