Holy is a word that most of us associate with the “stained glass ghetto.” It’s a word that only “church people” use. Even if that’s true, it’s still a great idea. Every kid knows that you can’t eat hot dogs and potato chips on china. “Special company” or “special occasions” are the only times when Mom’s china is used. Hot dogs are meant to be eaten every day on paper plates, while china is for special occasions. When God tells us to be holy, he wants us to be like fine china, something special for him and, as Peter says, just like him.

Prayer

Holy Lord, All-Powerful God, I come before you knowing how far away your holiness is from mine. I’m thankful that Jesus’ sacrifice and your Holy Spirit living inside of me have made me holy. Please take my life as a holy gift to you today. In Jesus’ precious name I pray. Amen.
