Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; — Ephesians 5:25

For husbands, there is selfless love in what we do and selfless love in what we do. Because we love our wives, we give up ourselves. Jesus is our model in this situation, and he gave up everything. What was it? To make us holy and lovely in God’s eyes. Our reasons for giving up our rights to bless and love our wives should be just as selfless and pure. Paul tells us in Ephesians 5:21 that we should also submit. This doesn’t mean we should be spineless, though. It means we should serve and sacrifice to bless Christ and bring him glory.
