Wouldn’t it be great if we could get rid of all the walls that keep us apart? These walls can be based on race, class, income, or gender. Paul spent his whole life trying to do just that: bring people to Jesus and the cross to break down the walls that kept them apart. At the foot of the cross, there are no positions of superiority or inferiority. There is only a place for those who see God’s power in sacrifice and God’s love even when it is being hurt by cruel people. Even though culture and people’s selfishness are always trying to split us up, we must remember that we can only be one in Jesus.

God, please forgive me when I’ve let my prejudices and suspicions keep me from getting along well with people you’ve called your children. As I try to love your children like you do, I pray that my life will be an example of redemption and unity. In the name of Jesus, whose last wish was for everyone to get along, I pray. Amen.
