We try to get so many things, but only one of them makes us wise. Paul told the people of Athens that God made us to look for him and find him (Acts 17). The wisdom of Proverbs keeps bringing us back to “knowing God” and having a deep, reverent respect for him as the source of wisdom. We can only understand our priorities, needs, purposes, goals, problems, and issues when we know who the Lord is and spend time with him every day.

Prayer
God is Holy, Majestic, Good, and Eternal. I have to say that I know so much less about you than you know about me. But your faithfulness in my life, your power shown in history, your grace shown to so many through the cross of Christ, and your promise to bring me home to you one day all keep me going. I want to know you so that my life can be lost in your will. Not for my own glory or gain, but for your praise, I ask that you show yourself to me in the things I do today. In Jesus’ precious name I pray. Amen.
