Do you like getting gifts? Even more so when they are really given to us with no strings attached and all we have to do is take them. The best thing that’s ever happened to us has nothing to do with what we’ve done. God gave it to us. We didn’t buy it, earn it, or do anything to deserve it. God gave it to us as a sacrifice so that our salvation wouldn’t be a sign of how good we are, but of how kind God is.

Prayer

Holy God, I’ll never be able to thank you enough for sending Jesus to die for my sins. May I never take your kindness for granted or the cost of your gift for granted. At the same time, Father, I want to live with confidence, knowing that my salvation does not depend on my mistakes but on your grace. Because you gave me such a wonderful gift, I want to live for you today in a way that shows how happy I am to have received it. In Jesus’ precious name I pray. Amen.
