Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. — John 8:12

Darkness is more than just a sign; it’s a way of life and a way of seeing the world. The dark is where lies, bad things, crime, predators, sin, and death happen. To be a follower of Jesus, we have to give him our hearts and let him get rid of the darkness inside us so we don’t have to be afraid of the darkness outside. In this way, Jesus gives us light, but this light does more than just brighten a dark room. This light makes the heart shine.

Prayer

Holy God, who lives in glorious and unstoppable light, I praise you for sending Jesus to take away the dark fears that so easily cover me. I pray for the strength and bravery to not only live in the light, but also to show others how to get there. In Jesus’ precious name I pray. Amen.
