It’s not a surprise what God does through Jesus. Yes, it was a surprise, but the Jewish Scriptures, which we call the Old Testament, are full of “hints” and predictions about his coming. “Long ago,” the holy prophets had talked about it. But more than the prophets, the coming of Jesus shows that God keeps his word. God is keeping his promises by sending Jesus. So, Paul can say that all of God’s promises are fulfilled in Jesus and that the “amen” is spoken through Jesus (2 Corinthians 1:20). Through Jesus, God comes, helps, cares, saves, redeems, and keeps his promises.

Prayer
I’m glad that you keep your promises, Holy Father. I don’t have to worry that you won’t keep your promise to me because of your love, character, and kindness. So, please help me to be more loyal to you as I try to keep my promises and commitments to you. I know this is important to you, not only because I need to learn to obey, but also because I need to become more like you. In Jesus’ precious name I pray. Amen.
