It is a mistake to think that God’s love for the world started with Jesus and the Great Commission. Remember how Jonah preached to save Nineveh, which was Israel’s worst enemy? Remember the important story of Ruth, a foreigner who became part of the family tree of King David and, eventually, of Jesus the Messiah. God loves everyone, and he wants them all to come to him and share his grace. We Christians are the salt and light of the world. We are here to reach out to all the people of the world and call them back to the one Father who really cares about them.

Holy God, awaken in me a deeper desire to spread your love throughout the world. May I use my life, my wealth, and my concern to further your work around the world. Bless all those who work to spread the good news of Jesus in cultures other than their own. In Jesus’s precious name I pray. Amen.
