Even though we joke about getting older, the problems that come with it are hard. We know that we are going to die. The way we feel can betray us. We can’t do the things we used to be able to. As Christians, we know that getting older brings us closer to home and to the day when Jesus gives us bodies that can’t get old. God can help us use these earthly things to remind us of what’s really important. With the help of his Spirit, we can change to be more like our Savior and get ready for our heavenly home.

Prayer

Supreme God, I’ll admit that the older I get, the less I enjoy getting older. However, I am grateful that as I get older, I get closer to returning to your side. Please don’t let me age into cynicism, negativity, or bitterness. Instead, resurrect me and use me to bless those who still need to return to you. In Jesus’s precious name I pray. Amen.
