But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: — Ephesians 4:15

Words that are true are true. When said with love, words can be a blessing. But truth spoken with love is healing. It blesses those who hear it and makes the person who says it grow up. It’s not always easy to tell the truth with love, but it’s worth it! Look at God and you’ll see how hard it was for him to show how much he loved his Word by sending Jesus. But through that one sacrificed Word, he has saved us and shown us how gracious, merciful, and loving he is.

Prayer

Holy God, help me to speak only the truth and the love. I apologize if I have ever used the “painful truth” to stir up conflict, offend someone, or make a good impression. I apologize if I ever lied, distorted, or exaggerated. I want to speak in a straightforward, tender, loving manner. I want the way I interact with people to reflect your grace. In Jesus’s precious name I pray. Amen.
