So many people reject God because they are unwilling to sacrifice certain things for him. They may couch it in an intellectual argument, but they frequently do not want to surrender their will to God because doing so would require them to give up something they love that conflicts with God’s character. Numerous evangelists are aware that intellectual arguments rarely convert this type of person to the truth. Before they can understand that God’s demand for holiness in them is because he is their ally and not their enemy, they must first come to know Jesus and his sacrificial love for them.

Prayer

Holy and all-powerful God, I praise you for your holiness and love. Thank you for demonstrating your love and faithfulness by sending Jesus to save me. I regret the occasions where I perceived your desire for holiness to be excessively demanding or harsh. Thank you for loving me enough to not only save me through Jesus, but also call me to a holy life under your care and protection. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
