Nicodemus is one of the great stories in the Gospel of John. He approached Jesus at night, and Jesus told him that those who love the truth will seek out the light. Later, Nicodemus defended Jesus despite being mocked for doing so. Then, at the worst possible political and religious moment, he revealed himself as Jesus’ disciple: he took Jesus’ broken and dead body and assisted Joseph of Arimathea in placing it in a tomb. Nicodemus did not remain in the shadows. Nor should we, either. Jesus is the world’s light; if we cannot find our light in him, how great is our darkness!

Prayer
Father, I desire to walk with you in the light. Jesus’ light was not extinguished by the darkness of Calvary; rather, it burned brighter for me. I recognize your love for me at the cross. At the cross, I recognize that Jesus has forgiven my sins. At the cross, I see Jesus’ perfected love for you and me. Father, thank you for your gracious salvation. Jesus, we thank you for your incredible sacrifice. I pray in the name of Jesus, your perfect Lamb. Amen.
