Can one go upon hot coals, and his feet not be burned? — Proverbs 6:28

I’m not sure how the weather is where you are, but it’s scorching in Texas right now. Don’t be concerned about scorching coals; just stroll on the sidewalk. But it’s wonderful to be reminded of scorching coals. We feel spiritually powerful on the inside, or a “favorite” temptation catches us off guard, and we opt to flirt with sin. But, via the Holy Spirit, the Wise Man warns us that if we flirt with evil and place ourselves in the path of temptation, we shall be burnt in the end.

Prayer

All-powerful God, loving Father, and compassionate Shepherd, please pardon me. I’ll confess that sometimes I dabble in things that aren’t morally upright or revered. I appreciate your many times freeing me from my ignorance in this matter. Bless me with courage and fresh conviction as I strive to devote my whole being to you and steer clear of what is risky and unwise. In Jesus’ precious name I pray. Amen.
