God repeatedly warned his people in Jeremiah’s horrific, frightening, and tragic predictions that he would destroy them because they were obstinate and had hard hearts. But, in the midst of these dire warnings, God inserts passages of mercy and hope. The promise of God to “refresh the exhausted and satisfy the weak” is possibly the most reassuring thing you can imagine. For seventy years, Israel had nothing except God’s promise. But, when the time came, God honored his word. I believe he will treat us similarly today.

Prayer

Decent shepherd, I’m exhausted and worn out. Please let my body and mind some relaxation. Please assist me in enjoying everything that you have already given me. You alone deserve all praise, strength, and power. I humbly submit to you in faith as I wait for the relaxation and fulfillment you promised. In Jesus’ precious name I pray. Amen.
