Old Smokey “Only you can prevent forest fires!” the bear said. That’s pretty much all Wiseman has to say about rumors. We can turn down the heat, put out the fire, and stop arguing that way. How? By not spreading juicy tidbits of gossip, fighting the urge to say hurtful hints, and turning down the chance to spread a bad rumor. Without gossip, the anger between rivals might go away and relationships could be fixed.

Prayer
God, please forgive me when I spread rumors or talked about other people behind their backs. Please bless and help the people I’ve hurt by talking about them. Give me the strength to only say things that will help other people, the courage to fix the relationships I’ve hurt with my careless words, and the wisdom to know how to stop people from spreading rumors. In Jesus’ precious name I pray. Amen.
