So much of what we want is only temporary. Once we get it, we have to do our best to keep it because we know it won’t last forever. God has told us that if we want to have a relationship with him and do what he wants, we will live forever, just like he does. So let’s stop and think about how we spend our time, money, and energy, and ask ourselves if what we’re going after is really something we want. Then, let’s ask one more important question: “Is it going to last long enough to make a difference, even if it’s worth having?”

Prayer

Please, Eternal Father, give me the courage to tell the truth about what I want to do with my life. I’d like it to help your cause. I want to change things for the better. I’ll admit that some of this desire is about me. But, dear Father, I really do want to live in a way that helps other people and brings honor to you. I don’t want to waste my time on things that won’t last and don’t matter. Please give me the spiritual wisdom to follow your will and find your life instead of chasing the shadow values of my culture. In Jesus’ precious name I pray. Amen.
