My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: — 1 John 2:1

John wants to stop even one bad thing from happening to the people he loves. He is worried because he knows that Satan can use even one bad thing to make us give up and lose. We need to know that we have a Savior who will save us and protect us. He paid the price to buy us back, sent his Spirit to help us get over the power of sin, and will talk to the Father and ask him to forgive us.

Prayer

Father, When I sin, I feel ashamed of how weak and weak-willed I am. Even when I felt bad about myself, I’m glad Jesus gave me a way back into your holy presence. Jesus, I’m so glad you saved me and fought for me. When I fall, I won’t let Satan get me down. Instead, I promise again to live my life with your values and for your glory. In Jesus’ precious name I pray. Amen.
