Cursed! Not just because people made fun of him and cursed at him, but also because our sin caused him to get the curse of death. He did something horrible and shameful. He died on a cross, hanging from a tree in front of a crowd of people who laughed and jeered at him. But the beautiful thing about his shame and dishonor is that God used it to save us. Jesus’ being laughed at and cursed freed us from the curse of our sins. Praise God! Praise Jesus!

Prayer

Almighty Father, I can’t even pretend to understand your ways or why you would make yourself go through such a terrible thing to save me. Dear Savior, I can’t imagine what it must have been like to hang in front of a crowd while carrying the sin of the whole world on your back. As the Holy Spirit prays for me, all I can do is ask him to help my thoughts and words show how grateful I am. Thank you! Praise you! May my life be a true tribute to you! In the powerful name of Jesus, I give thanks. In Jesus’ precious name I pray. Amen.
