Envy thou not the oppressor, and choose none of his ways. — Proverbs 3:31

Why hasn’t anyone bothered to remind us of what God’s wise servant taught us hundreds of years ago? Many people are looking for a way to stop the rampant violence that kills people, threatens schools, and makes our streets unsafe. Let’s not make anyone, real or made up, our hero if their fame comes from violence. No one knew this better than the son of Israel’s most famous warrior. “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God,” said the Son of the Most Powerful One.

Prayer

God Almighty, save us from the violence in our culture and the fact that we worship violence. Give us heroes who really try to make peace. Also, dear Father, please give us the ability to see them and the strength to respect them. In Jesus’ precious name I pray. Amen.
