John 1:14 says that Jesus is the most important message from God (cf. Heb. 1:1-3). This is, of course, a puzzle that we don’t fully understand. It goes beyond what we can see and understand. People who don’t like Jesus want to quickly say that he can’t be the Messiah because they think they know where he comes from. They are mistaken. They think he is from Nazareth, not Bethlehem. We know what to do. Even worse, they are wrong because Jesus isn’t really from Bethlehem. Instead, he is “from above.” When we try to figure out all that Jesus is as our Savior, Christ the Lord, it wears out our minds and fills our cups with wonder.

Help my heart to be filled with astonishment, wonder, joy, love, pleasure, pride, and awe at the sight of his power, grace, sacrifice, victory, and love.You, Father, and the Christ deserve all the glory and honor I can find in my heart and say with my voice.
