God should be the first thing every day. We should be reminded that God has given us another day to serve him with each breath we take. Every heartbeat is a reminder from God that we still have another minute to do our best for him. It’s very simple to overlook this benefit. We are more likely to remember these truths if we teach, demonstrate, and live them in front of and around our children. However, let’s not assume that they will pick these things up from watching us. Let’s look for chances to share God’s truth, give thanks to our heavenly father, and discuss our faith.

Thank you, All-Powerful God, Generous Sustainer, and Unmerited Friend! I’m grateful for the breath I take and the heartbeat that keeps me alive. Make me conscious of your presence and your deserving of my best effort as I travel, converse, rest, and go about my work. I offer my gracious sacrifice in the name of Jesus. Amen.
