God’s greatest “idiocy” is his willingness to use the cross to bring others to himself. At first glance, the cross is an abhorrent and horrifying instrument. In our human wisdom, we could never have conceived of using a man crucified as filth to win the hearts of the world. But God does. The cross transcends cultural and linguistic barriers and reaches across racial distinctions. The cross is God’s display of foolishness and weakness; through it, he conquers death and draws our hearts to himself.

Prayer

Father, as many people play pranks and act foolishly on this day, I am reminded of your “foolishness” and “weakness” on Calvary with Jesus. There are no words that can express how deeply your love and grace have filled me with assurance. I greatly appreciate your assistance. It amazes me that you have such a deep love for me. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
