Like Esau, we get so caught up in the everyday things of life and the rumbling of our stomachs that we forget to look at the bigger picture. God’s Word, which is written in the Bible, shown in Jesus, and told to us in the Gospel, is what can keep us alive forever. We are looking for this living bread.

Prayer

Create in me a hunger for your Word that is far more essential to my survival than my hunger for food, True and Faithful God, through the power of your Holy Spirit. I admit that there have been times when I have let the trivial things of life get in the way of seeking your Word and properly feeding my soul. As I recommit to being more attentive to your leading and your truth through your Word and by your Spirit, I kindly ask for your forgiveness. In Jesus’s precious name I pray. Amen.
