Christians have had a hard time in the past few years. All over the world, people are being persecuted more than ever before. Mass murderers in the United States went after people who believed in God. Even though they were killed for their faith, their stories about the LORD have been just as convincing. When faced with such a fact, we have a lot of choices. Most likely, shock shouldn’t be one of them. This is a fear that has been around since the early days of Christian society. It really started long before Jesus’ time, when our Jewish heroes were killed because they believed in the One True God and were Jewish. I think it’s time to say this old prayer from today’s Bible verse, Psalm 5, again. When we pray it, let’s remember that no matter what other people do to us, they can’t keep us from God or the future salvation he has planned for us.

Prayer

Almighty God, please bring peace to our world. Please stop telling us how terrible it is that Satan has made your children hate men. Give us the strength to be honest about our faith, to forgive, and to hold on to our hope, whether or not we are being persecuted. Father, if you could comfort the people whose loved ones were killed because they believed in you, that would be great. In Jesus’ precious name I pray. Amen.
