Although many people credit Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with saying this, Amos, God’s representative, really said it almost 2600 years before Dr. King did.God wished for his followers to understand that unless they were accompanied by a life of kindness, integrity, and concern, their religious journeys, sacrifices, and songs would be of no value to him.Northern Israel did not confess and did not trust Amos. They were completely annihilated not too long after because God found their hypocrisy, injustice, and mistreatment of the helpless repugnant. But since we are alive now, these words are just as valid and true as they were back then. What will be our reaction?

Prayer
Children nowadays are embarrassed of the injustice in our world and in our countries, Almighty God. Please utilize us to inspire a character revival. And Father, help us to focus on your compassion, mercy, tenderness, and grace as we strive to live holy lives so that we might share these traits with others who need to experience your love and get your salvation. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
