God is not about putting people down. I know Satan started the rumor a long time ago, but you shouldn’t believe it. God is not a mean teacher who wants people to fail and be embarrassed. God is not a cranky judge who wants to shame, humiliate, and punish everyone who shows up in court. God is not a rumor-spreader who spreads rumors about our faults all over heaven. God, the only one who is real and alive, wants to save us. He wants to give out grace and mercy. He wants to have us as his kids. He is holy, righteous, awesome, and fair at the same time. So, when God’s desire for us and his call for us to be good people clash, there is only one way out: Jesus! Jesus came to make sure that God’s righteous demands were met, and he did this by showing mercy. Jesus was sent by God to save sinners. Jesus came to save people of every nation, race, and culture from sin and its consequences. Jesus came to be our savior.

Prayer

I am grateful to you, O God, for your desire to save me. Thank you for wanting me to be holy in order to save me from the trouble that sin causes in my life. I am grateful that you have called me to live righteously, so that I may be a blessing to others rather than a burden to them. The good things I do are a reflection of your glory, so I am grateful that you have motivated me to emulate your actions. Therefore, I ask that you use me, Father. Though I am not perfect, I would like to be one of the means you use to share Jesus’ mercy and grace with the lost. In Jesus’ precious name I pray. Amen.
