A baby in a feed trough was the sign for the shepherds. Isn’t that a pretty strong sign? The All-Powerful One who made everything is sleeping where the sheep and goats ate their grain and hay. That God would love us so much that he would start out in such a bad way shows us why the angels praise him so much. He is glorious, but instead of hiding or guarding that glory, he shared it with us so we could find it too.

Prayer

God of the manger and ruler of the stars, I join my heart and voice with the angels to praise your holy and glorious name. Your sacrifice means so much to me that I am in awe. You could have shown Jesus to the shepherds in any way, but you chose the manger. Thank you for showing up in a common place so I could find your sign and find my way back to you. In Jesus’ precious name I pray. Amen.
