If the Bible is a love story, then hope is its central idea. God always gives his people reasons to hope for a better tomorrow, no matter how bad things are, how big the enemy is, how deep the sin is, how lost the people are, how empty the cupboard is, how wide the river is, or anything else. Then, through Jesus, God made sure that tomorrow would come.

Prayer

Eternal God, please give me patience and endurance as I look through your Bible to find your truth and understand it. I can’t believe how much you did in the Old Testament to save and bless your people. I can’t believe what you were able to do with Jesus’ strange group of followers. Please, God, give me hope so that I will expect great things from you and then live long enough to see you do them. May everything I do, including this, be to your honor and glory. In Jesus’ precious name I pray. Amen.
