How does God help us figure out what he wants? God has clearly given us the Bible and the Holy Spirit so that we can understand the Bible. What about ways that are more subtle and less clear? Most of us have experienced a “cluster of divine coincidences,” which is a series of events that happen close together after we pray. For example, a friend calls or writes at just the right time; we read an article or listen to a sermon that has a comment or two about our concern or confusion; several songs in worship convict us in the area where we are seeking the Lord’s guidance; or we simply feel a tug on our conscience that helps us figure out what is right and what is wrong in God means it when he says he’ll give us wisdom if we pray for it without doubting, and if we really look for him, we’ll find him. His voice thunders in amazing ways.

Prayer

Holy God, please help me figure out what you want me to do about some big things in my life. I don’t want to make choices based on how smart I am as a person. Please use your Spirit to guide me in the way you want me to go, and use me to bring you praise and glory. Thank you for caring enough about my life to show me where to go. In Jesus’ precious name I pray. Amen.
