God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, — Hebrews 1:1

God is a God who talks. He wants us to know that he loves us, and he has chosen words to tell us. The patriarchs and great prophets came first. Then there was what was written in the Bible. But God’s most important message and most powerful words were not words at all. They were a person named Jesus of Nazareth, who is Christ and Lord of all. To be what he wants us, his Church, to be, we can’t just look at the Bible. We also have to look at him. He is the key to knowing what the Bible says and how to live by it.

Prayer

As I read your Book and try to understand your will, Holy Father, please make it easier for me to see Jesus and his work and purpose. Fill me with your Spirit so I can approach every choice with the question, “What would Jesus do?” In Jesus’s precious name I pray. Amen.
