God’s plans for us are easy to figure out. He wants to save us and bless us with it. The amazing gift of his Son is a strong sign that this is true. But God doesn’t want us to be saved from sin and death just once. He wants it to happen over and over again. He wants us to show that we are saved by him every day and tell others about it. When we do what is right, seek mercy in our relationships, and worship God with a humble heart, God’s salvation comes true in our lives and touches others with his grace. In Jesus’s words, we work for God’s kingdom to come and be done on earth just as it is done in heaven.

Prayer

Help my eyes see what your heart sees as I welcome this new year, Almighty and Compassionate Father. Teach me to despise sin and to show mercy to all who are in need. Teach me to value justice and the truth while abhorring mistreatment and exploitation. Move me to consider the vast disparity between your holy majesty and my inconsistent character through the power of your Spirit. I beg you, make me entirely your child. In Jesus’s precious name I pray. Amen.
