We live in a world full of keys, locks, alarms, and other ways to keep things safe. We shouldn’t be surprised by what Paul says. We take care of the things we value the most. What is more valuable to us than the Gospel’s message of God’s saving grace? God has given us all a built-in security system to help us keep that very precious hope safe. This safety system is inside of us. It is the Spirit of God.

Prayer

O God, help me to resist compromising your truth in favor of formality or latitude. I want to lead a holy life and teach others to do the same. I want to extend to them your mercy and grace. Father, I want them to join me in welcoming Jesus when he comes back most of all. Please give me the ability to discern truth from error through the power of your Spirit so that I can defend and uphold your truth. In Jesus’s precious name I pray. Amen.
