If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. — James 1:5

Wisdom is that hard-to-get quality that we admire in other people but find hard to develop in ourselves. But God says that those who really ask will get it. But don’t forget the secret of asking: ask, look, and knock. Or better yet, check out Proverbs 2. Wisdom is ours only if we want it more than anything else and value it more than anything else. God wants to give it to us, but there’s something about spiritual wisdom that makes us have to value it first before we can get it.

Prayer

God, the generous giver of all good things, grant me wisdom today. Let me make decisions that reflect your will and aim to bring you glory. As I make decisions, let your Kingdom direct my thoughts, and let your Spirit direct me in your ways. Father, I confess that without your assistance, I am unable to direct my own steps. So please give me wisdom today. In Jesus’s precious name I pray. Amen.
