Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. — Romans 6:11

If we have been washed clean of sin, if we have died with Christ in baptism, and if the Holy Spirit has washed us thoroughly and completely, then let’s live for God! Let’s fight sin and our desire to sin with everything we’ve got, knowing that the Holy Spirit will give us the power to live a much better life of righteousness than we could on our own. Let’s start each day by deciding to be dead to our sinful pasts and alive to the goal of becoming more like God.

Almighty, Loving, and Righteous Father, help my heart stay firmly committed to doing what you want and becoming more like your holy character and grace. In Jesus’ precious name I pray. Amen.
