How about teaching older men? “Learn from the younger generation?” This poem reflects a long history of understanding and respect. Paul’s remarks are even more relevant now since, for the first time in history, some of us attend the same church as five generations of people. If reform and regeneration are to persist, the younger generation need character-driven leaders and mentors. Elders must recognize that God often utilizes the voices of the young to preach his truth and promote regeneration. We must love, respect, and pray for one another as we strive to be God’s people in our time.

O God, please give your family knowledge, patience, and respect so that we may appreciate each individual, listen to those who speak with maturity and character no matter their age, and be receptive to hearing your truth from whomever it comes from. In Jesus’ precious name I pray. Amen.
