That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; — Ephesians 4:22

That verse makes you think, doesn’t it?! When we became Christians, we each gave our hearts to God and died with Christ on the cross (Romans 6:6). Jesus tells us that this is something we should all do every day (Luke 9:23). In response to God’s grace, we need to put our old, sinful lives behind us every day and choose to live for Jesus. As we start this new year, let’s make it a spiritual habit to offer ourselves to the Lord and live each day joyfully under Jesus’ rule.

Holy and powerful LORD, my heavenly father, I want to honor you and not give in to Satan’s temptations. Please fill me with your Spirit and capture my heart with your grace as I promise to live each day for you. In Jesus’ precious name I pray. Amen.
