Therefore now let it please thee to bless the house of thy servant, that it may continue for ever before thee: for thou, O Lord GOD, hast spoken it: and with thy blessing let the house of thy servant be blessed for ever. — 2 Samuel 7:29

God had been very good to King David. He went from being a shepherd boy to being king, from being a messenger boy to being a war hero, and from being from a small town to being the leader of a huge empire. David, on the other hand, was worried that God would stay close to him and his children and keep the promises he had made to David. David had learned more than anything else in his life of service that the LORD God of Israel was the key to the future, every battle, and any real hope. When God speaks, he keeps his word. When God does something, he does it to save. So David asked God to bless his people and keep his promises, which is what God wants to do.

Prayer

Thank you for being in my life and keeping your promises to me, oh faithful and honorable God, my Father who has nourished and blessed me. As you promised, bring me into your presence with tremendous delight so that I may live in your home forever. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
