“They will know that I am the LORD,” a recurring theme in Ezekiel’s prophecies. It is also a terrifying one for his rebellious, sinful, and wicked people. God is pure. Those who claim him as their God must reflect his glory and greatness. They had better extol God’s holiness, because if they don’t, God will, even at their expense. God will be known as God. This is a sobering reminder that even the name of God is holy in a day when so many profane it and use it so casually in their reactions and frustration. He will demonstrate his greatness and holiness.

Prayer

Forgive me, God, for not reverencing you as I ought and as you deserve. Please bring a wave of rebirth among your people to celebrate you and your holiness with more passion and a deeper feeling of wonder. You are holy, righteous, magnificent, mighty, and great. Help me exhibit my honor to you more consistently in my life and speech. In Jesus’ precious name I pray. Amen.
