We should watch out for people worthy of good instead of just “looking out for” only “number 1,” — whether that be assist, aide, praise, love, affection, attention, praise — and to act decisively to grant them what they want and deserve. We are to be a people, as Paul reminds us, that Jesus redeemed so we would be “eager to do good deeds” (Titus 2:14).

Prayer

Father, forgive me for my selfishness. I frequently focus entirely on my wants or what I deserve. You have blessed me by putting so many nice and deserving individuals in my life. Give me the strength to behave in ways that honor you and are a gift to others by using your Spirit to open my eyes and heart to people around me. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
