Jesus forgave a man who was lame, and then he healed him to show that he had the power to forgive. The most important thing about this healing was not how exciting or important it was, but how those who saw it reacted. They praised God out of amazement and awe. They knew that Jesus had come as God himself to do God’s work. When we know who Jesus is, what he has done for us, and what he will continue to do for us, we still do the same thing: we praise him with awe and wonder.
