And when they bring you unto the synagogues, and unto magistrates, and powers, take ye no thought how or what thing ye shall answer, or what ye shall say: — Luke 12:11

Jesus says that when we need help the most, he will be there and his Spirit will give us the words we need. This promise has given hope to people who have been persecuted or made fun of. It helped them see that they weren’t alone and that they didn’t have to worry about having all the answers before going in front of an angry crowd. This same promise gives Christians hope today, whether they are being persecuted by the government or are being treated badly by people who don’t believe in God at work, school, or at home. When we face our enemies, we know we are not alone because Jesus Christ is with us.

Prayer

Dear God, I need your power and the assistance of the Holy Spirit as I confront those who reject your message of salvation. In that crucial moment of confrontation, I want others to hear your words, not mine. Please grant me the wisdom to know what to say, when to say it, and how to say it. In Jesus’s precious name I pray. Amen.
