In a time when getting involved in someone’s life is no longer politically and socially acceptable, these verses stand out like a gunshot on a quiet night. Sin is still real and just as dangerous as it has always been. But because we don’t want to be seen as judgmental and self-righteous, we let many people who are stuck in sin die spiritually. The call is for nonjudgmental help. We know how bad the sin is and how much the sinner needs help, but we don’t feel proud of our own goodness. “If it weren’t for God’s help, I’d be there.”

Prayer

Father, pardon my transgressions as I pardon those who have transgressed against me. Father, please also help my heart to be stirred into action to help those who sin has imprisoned by the gravity of its effects. In Jesus’s precious name I pray. Amen.
