Holy is a word that most of us associate with the “stained glass ghetto.” It’s a word that only “church people” use. Even if that’s true, it’s still a great idea. Every kid knows that you can’t eat hot dogs and potato chips on china. “Special company” or “special occasions” are the only times when Mom’s china is used. Hot dogs are meant to be eaten every day on paper plates, while china is for special occasions. When God tells us to be holy, he wants us to be like fine china, something special for him and, as Peter says, just like him.

Prayer
I acknowledge how far removed from your holiness and mine I am as I approach you, Holy Lord, God Almighty. I give you thanks for sanctifying me through Jesus’s death on the cross and for indwelling me with your Holy Spirit. I offer my life to you today as a holy sacrifice. In Jesus’s precious name I pray. Amen.
