When you look at the Cross in its most basic and raw form, it is such an offensive sign. God taking on human form and living among us is crazy enough. It is unthinkable that God would have to deal with the ups and downs of death and human needs. It is crazy to think that God would put up with the humiliations and cruelty of the Cross. But that is what the Bible says. What seems stupid, weak, or offensive has the power to change us and give us faith like no other. When we look at the Cross and the Resurrection of Jesus, we see that God did the impossible for us and in us. God is the only one who could save us this way.

Prayer

Holy and kind. Father, I know that some people may think the Cross is silly. I know that a lot of people who wear a Cross as a sign don’t respect it. But, Father, I have to admit that Jesus’ willingness to go to the Cross for me is very convicting and gives me a lot of comfort. Thank you for this love gift and grace sacrifice. In Jesus’ precious name I pray. Amen.
