We shouldn’t see this as a way to get our list of wants fulfilled. Instead, we should see it for what it really is: an invitation to seek a love relationship with God above all else. When we find him, our priorities will be straight and our hearts will be able to tell what is really important and what is not. Then we’ll realize that what we have in him is what we really want most.

Prayer

Wonderful and Kind Father, I’ll be honest with you: my heart is often full of selfish things. But in times like these, Father, I know that you are what I need most and that my heart wants your will. Please kindle your Spirit in me so I can see through any selfish lies that would keep me from putting you first in my life. Please forgive me when I’m small, rude, or shallow. May I know you as well as it is possible for a human to know you, not so I can be full, but so you can be respected. In Jesus’ precious name I pray. Amen.
