When the black dirt gets smaller, it leaves deep cracks in the ground. All of the grass turns yellow, then brown, and then dies. A tiny breeze makes dust swirls over the empty land. When the rain finally comes, the “dry land” drinks up a lot of water as it runs off the wet surface and into the deep cracks caused by the drought. The ground gets bigger, the grass grows back, and life comes back. God’s Holy Spirit pours out his blessings, brings times of refreshment, and fills our thirsty hearts in a spiritual desert.
